Breakfast in keystone

Fuel your fun with a great breakfast.  Five awesome choices and some quick spots to grab food before your Keystone adventures.

This cozy local boasts some of the best food around. If you are solo you can slide into one of the bar stools next to ski patrollers and colorful locals. On a busy weekend you might have to wait for a table, but this place is well worth your time. Enjoy one of the best Bloody Marys around or one of the creative bar specials or infused cocktails. No reservations, and no carry-out when they are busy (the kitchen is very small)!

The Haywood does lunch really well too, with mouth watering burgers and sandwiches available into the afternoon. You’ll have to find the Gateway Building at the entrance to the River Run Base area to find the Haywood. There you can stock up with snacks and beer at Gateway Grocery & Liquor, grab skis and gear next door at Christy Sports.

Promise the kids pancakes for breakfast? This is your spot. The Spoon has a great patio and outdoor seating for enjoying these beautiful Colorado days. This cafe is about as close as you can get to the slopes, so they are busy most of the time, but you can sit down for a breakfast big enough for all of your adventures.

The large bar is a local apre favorite, and the loud end of the bar is probably the regulars sharing stories from the day. The dining room is family friendly, serving up great hearty breakfasts, group friendly snack foods like  nachos and local Colorado brews.

At first glance its a kitchy coffee spot with great deals on yummy, warm Irish Coffees ($5 all day or $4 for happy hour), Inxpot is so much more. Make a quick getaway even when there’s a line with a house made pastry and a coffee drink, or wait a little longer for a great sandwich or burrito.

You’ll see ski school instructors and other locals grabbing breakfast here, where the coffee is also Colorado sourced and delicious. There is outdoor seating with a mountain view, or comfy couches on the inside, making this the perfect place to rendezvous with everyone in your group.

4. The Edgewater Cafe

This resort owned restaurant is one you may not find unless you are staying at the Keystone Lodge and Spa but its a great spot to grab breakfast for the family. Even if you are staying elsewhere the valet parking at the Lodge keep this spot convenient if you have a car, or the free Keystone shuttles will get you there.

The cafe has views of the beautiful Keystone Lake, where there is ice skating in winter and water sports and fishing in the summer. The menu is created by resort chefs, and features healthy breakfast classics and with a kid’s menu and free breakfast for kids under 5 on weekends.

(Also know as the Mountain Top Cookie Shop)  This spot makes the list for quickness, convenience, uniqueness and fun! Grab a crepe filled with anything you want and enjoy it on the lifts. Whether your craving something sweet or protein packed you’ll have a full belly to fuel your day. A favorite if you’re looking for something sweet is the raspberry, lemon, and white chocolate combo!

Venture in for beverages and giant cookies made fresh daily if you want a snack for hiking or skiing. The Stand doesn’t have seating, but everything is handy and hand-held, so you won’t miss a second on the mountain.

The only fast food in Keystone features the usual morning offerings.  An option to grab food on a busy resort morning.

The Mountain House serves up hot breakfast burritos, Starbucks coffee and grab-n-go fruit and yogurt to get you going.

Starbucks has hot coffee and various quick eats.

The Rockin R is good if you want to grab frozen burritos or eggs and various other items you can fix in the condo – or grab n’ go.
