Loveland Pass is a favorite local drive. The pass is open most of the year, except in extreme weather. There are several parking spaces on both sides of the pass where you can pull over and take pictures, and you can stop at the top of the pass, also the continental divide.
In the winter you can often see locals hitch hiking their way to the top of the pass with skis or snowboards for the backcountry skiing in the area. You can easily make this drive into a loop that takes you past the A-Basin ski area and the Keystone Resort, through Dillon and back to I-70.

Boreas pass road is a great drive in the summer. Although it is not paved the whole way, its an easy gravel road and follows an old rail route. You can stop at the High Line Railroad Park on your way. If you happen to be driving in the fall you might find the Aspens putting on a colorful show. At the top of the pass you’ll see the Section House, a locally maintained mountain hut.

It’s easy to follow the road all the way around Dillon Lake. There are many places to park and stroll down to the lake, or stop at the Dillon or Frisco Marinas and grab lunch at a Tiki Bar!
